What a Fool Believes

My girlfriend and I have a joke that we’re moving to Berlin if Mitt Romney is elected. It’s actually more of a dream—Germany, not Romney—than a joke. We’ve heard and read that it’s wonderful there. Neither of us have ever been there. Nor do we know the language. But I’m predominately of German stock. Plus, we watch a lot of Fassbinder and Herzog.

With Stephen Malkmus playing Can’s Ege Bamyasi in Cologne next month, I think we might have to move there regardless of who wins the presidential election. Though, what with her hating SM/Pavement—she thinks him too damned smug—I should come up with another reason. Fiona Apple playing Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours? (I’ll get myself out of that corner once I hear Malkmus sing “Spoon”.) (Also, how great would Fiona Apple doing Rumours be?)
