THE LOVE IS OUT THERE
Do you gals and guys read gossip mags? You know, the ‘bloids? Neither do I. However, I have a girlfriend who’s on top of the gossip. This morning, while she was readying for work and I still sleeping, she woke me up to tell me that my streaming of The X-Files on Netflix has “made a love connection possible in the world” between David Duchovny (“Special Agent Fox Mulder”) and Gillian Anderson (“Special Agent Dana Scully”).
Now let me go back a second. When I say “she woke me up” I mean “she got me to this state between dream and waking life where my mind can easily confuse which is real.” A little while ago, I had to confirm that she did in fact tell me this as this piece of information is highly dream-like in nature.
Alright, let’s continue.
HOLY SHIT, MULDER AND SCULLY ARE TOGETHER IN THE REAL LIFE.
Now my watching—or re-watching, as I’ve seen many, though not all—of The X-Files is clearly the catalyst for these two to (FINALLY) get together. Has the subject matter of the show awakened some supernatural capabilities within me, making me into Cupid, a mythic god of desire, or, like some kind of telepathic Fiddler on the Roof?
YES.
Why? Because I speak to The X-Files when I watch it. I usually watch it late at night, between 11 pm and 2 am, which is, of course, the witching hour, when supernatural creatures come out to play, and my speaking to this show, out of a love that is pure, has conjured a spirit that is, in a sense, working through my words. Now sometimes what I say to the show is just completely unnecessary commentary like, “Look at the sweater on this devil worshipper.”, or, “Everyone on this show is so Canadian.” But the thing that I say with that pure love, during tender moments between Mulder and Scully—I’m only at Episode 16 of Season 2, so tender moments is all it is right now—is, “They love each other.”
AND IT WORKED.
Or, they just always loved one another and things worked against their love and they had to pine for one another for decades. That’s better than any magic.
Now the above photo is real! Well, they’re a little bit older, but, who cares? I just think this is like one of the best things ever. And I’m not even a huge fan of The X-Files. I love it, yeah, but I’m not all about it. That’s just a part of it. A part of:
ROMANCE.

Addendum: An anonymous commenter used the Ask Box to state: “BOTH OF THEIR REPS HAVE SAD [sic] THAT IT’S FALSE DON’T BELIEVE THE SHITTY TABLOIDS”. To which I, who had read these claims from the reps while writing this piece, say:
